A traveler's haven

Since we are a member of RCI and we attended its yearly meet and greet in Manila, they gave us a vacation promo. There were 7 destinations to choose from namely, Cebu, Tagaytay, Boracay and Malaysia. We choose Malaysia.

Day 1 - From Highlands to Highlands

Picture
When we arrived in KL low cost carrier terminal or commonly called by it's abbreviation LCCT  and we finished the long queue at the immigration, we directly went outside the airport and get a bus ticket for Genting Highlands which is about a 3hrs bus ride. Awana Country and Golf club resort is just along the highway going up to the highlands but since our bus was a non stop bus, we were like "oh yun  na hotel natin ah, pwede kaya bumaba?" but we where thinking, the hotel entrance is at the right side and the bus lane was at the left since they have left handed vehicles and there is no way to crossed with then we discussed "okay, maybe they don't allow passengers to just say stop and let them out of the bus, Hindi Ito pilipinas" and we decided to take the full stop at the highland terminal. When we stepped out from the bus "okay, what's next, lol" and we started to ask from people on how to get to Awana Resort and we ended up riding the cable car late at night, the experience was great although it's a little bit scary because it's about 15-20minutes ride going down to sky way and all you can hear from outside was the noisy nocturnal creatures (lol), and I was just very silent while we were at the cable car and from time to time I asked "malayo pa ba?,tagal naman" "Ayan na ata station, malapit na" yun pala ilaw lang poste. Hehehehe...so, to make it short, we arrived at the station safe and sound? Lels. Outside the station we waited for the free shuttle going to Awana. It's almost 10:00pm when we arrived at the hotel and we wrere assisted by the Malaysian receptionist and handed our room keys.. Oh yeah, it was a tiring journey from highlands of Baguio to the highlands of Genting but its all worth it, the experience was just awesome!

Day 2 - 3 : Exploring Genting

Picture
We spent 3 days in Genting Highlands and we usually begin our lakwatsa around 11am, we will start it with a mouthwatering food offered at YIK KEE Restaurant, a Chinese Restaurant in Gothong Jaya, at last nakakita na rin kami ng magandang pagkain kasi since we arrived puro nalang Malay foods ang nakakain namin which is very spicy. After lunch we will go to the highlands riding either the cable car or a bus and we always choose to ride the bus going up and the cable car going down to our hotel since Awana Resorts gave us fourteen complimentary tickets for cable car.

The weather in Genting is quite cold but not as cold as Benguet (I guess, lels). Hmmm, so What you can see in Genting? Well, they have this outdoor and indoor amusement park but we don’t have a chance to go to their outdoor but we did enjoy the indoor amusement because there is a mini roller coaster running over at the food court where we eat our dinner, so medyo maingay at maraming tao sa loob kasi mall sya na may amusement, if you have kids they will surely love it there. You can also see a Ripley’s believe it or not museum with an entrance fee of RM40 each. Also experience its  glow in a dark bowling place (guys! Sino nga yung winner na laging nakaka strike??  :P) You can also have your shopping spree at the mall, some stores offers sales and low prices.

Okay, enough with the mall activities. Let’s go nature! In Awana, they offer a nature trail, in Gothong Jaya; you can visit its hydro phonic strawberry farm, mushroom farm, orchid farm and organic vegetable farm before going out from the farm don’t forget to try its strawberry coffee available inside, it really tastes good and you can even buy some for pasalubong. All farms are all connected with each other so you don’t need to travel from one place to another and take note all have no entrance fees!  You can also visit a temple in Genting riding a cable car or a bus.

One thing I like about having a vacation in Genting Highlands is that bus transfers from your hotel or getting around the highlands is free! Yes, the shuttle is free anywhere in the Highlands, you just need to catch the bus at the designated station and look for the schedule.

The schedule of the bus and the cable car are posted in all its Bus station, all you have to do is be there at the exact shcheduled time and you can enjoy your ride in the entire Highlands. =)

Day 4 - Spent in Kuala Lumpur

Picture
Our reservation at Awana was 1 week, but we decided to spend our fifth day at Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur. We checked out at the hotel at around 11am and ride a bus that will take us to the Skyway where you can find the bus terminal going to KL. Genting highland is 2hrs away from Kuala Lumpur.

When we arrived at KL we directly go to MyHotel Sentral which we had our reservation. It is just located outside the Stensen Station so it is just very convenient for us. We had Chinese food again on our lunch =) ayaw na naming ng spicy food hehehe..  after lunch, since it was raining we decided to just  stay at the hotel and at around 6pm we went out

Day 5 - KL City Tour

We woke up early in the morning because we will be having our city tour. Anwar, our tour guide fetches us at the hotel around 8am with his car and let’s start the tour!

Picture
Ø  Putra Jaya – Where you can find their government offices which is still into completion. The Prime Minister’s Place and you can see amazing building structures and designs with a man-made lake surrounds it, also they have a PICC in Malaysia. Putra Jaya International Convention Center. Lol.

Picture

Ø  Batu Caves – Batu Caves is an Indian Temple, but today, it is more on a tourist place. It has more than 300 steps going up before you can get inside and all you can is its religious images. Aside from tourists, you can see a lot of monkeys just few steps away from you. Just beware of the things you bring along because monkeys might grab of what you are holding, especially when you bring along a plastic bag.

Picture
Ø  Royal Selangor - It is a group of companies that makes Pewter products. Tin + Antimony + Copper = Pewter. In this tour, Royal Selangor open its company to the public, they will show how a certain product made and how it will be done, the process until finish products. They also have a shop inside, where you can buy its different products for souvenirs.

Picture

Ø  Chinese Temple – just like any other Chinese temple in Philippines. But I should say, Taoist Temple in Cebu is nicer and has a big area than this Chinese Temple in KL. They renovated the whole place when we went there, in preparing for its feast day. This is temple is always part of a city tour itinerary. You can also go inside the temple but make sure you will leave your shoes and slippers outside to give respect of the temple.

Picture
Ø  Petronas Towers – This is the famous landmark in Kuala Lumpur.  The Petronas Towers were the tallest buildings in the world for six years, until Taipei 101 was completed in 2004. It was designed by Argentine architect César Pelli and Filipino-Malaysian Engineer Deejay Cerico under the consultancy of J. C. Guinto, and Filipino Designer Dominic "Minick" Saibo, the Petronas Towers were completed in 1998 after seven years of construction and became the tallest buildings in the world.  The towers feature a skybridge between the two towers on 41st and 42nd floors, which is the highest 2-story bridge in the world.  It is not attached to the main structure, but is instead designed to slide in and out of the towers to prevent it from breaking  s the towers sway several feet  in towards and away from each other during high winds.  (Source: Wikipedia)

At the feet of the towers you can find the Suria KLCC it is a upmarket retail podium where you can find mostly of the foreign luxury goods and high-street labels.

Picture
Ø  Central Market – this is the souvenirs place. You can have great deals and discounted price all you have to do is ask for it. Wide variety of souvenirs from home decors to shirts and Malay products.
China town was included in our itenary but we decided not to go since it is already 5pm and we are all tired from all those activities, so Anwar sent us to the hotel. At the evening we planned to go Bhukit Bintang were they said we can find things with great deals but since it was raining, we just decided to spend the rest of the night at the hotel.

Day 6 - Early Singapore Trip

Picture
Since Air Asia had a promo, we booked our flight from KL to SG prior our KL flight, it just cost Php1,000 per person that’s why we grab the chance to visit Singapore again.

We woke up early in the morning on our day 6th because we already planned to take the KLIA express going to the LCCT for our early flight to Singapore via Air Asia. We had our breakfast at the airport, as usual bilangan ng gastos and utangs, lol.

We arrived at Changi International Airport at around 11am, immigration was not a problem at all, Thank God =) , from the airport we go directly to China Town to checked in. Bed and Breakfast Inn / Dormitory type, masyadong mahal kasi pag hotel ang pag stay-han, you know SG, expensive. Lol.

After we put our things, we had our lunch beside the dorm. So, it’s one day in SG and may naiwan pa kaming pera from KL which we already changed it from RM to SGD at KL airport, so di na kami namoblema kaya order lang kami ng order ng pagkain at dahil na rin sa gutom kami. Khibong ordered a crocodile dish, then we had fish fillet and chicken. After kumain cympre sobrang busog kami, then we asked for the bill, we pay almost 70 SGD then kinumpyut namin into Php, omg! Kumain kami ng mahigit 2.5k kaming apat lang. Ok this is Singapore, malaki ang pera nila. Lol.

Suroy suroy begins. All with MRT rides.

First destination was Clark Quay, nothing’s really changed too much in Clark Quay the last time I went there 5 years ago but still it’s beautiful. Then we went to Merlion Park and Esplanade which are one of the first famous landmarks in Singapore. At last! I saw one of the latest tourist destinations, The Marina Bay and Sands. Amazing structures and great view! We took pictures in a hurry because the rain rain is coming our way without umbrellas; we spent an hour or two at the café under the bridge (hehehe, that’s how we called it). As the rain stops, we headed at the MRT station and went to Bugis. It is where you can find good deals, discounted and lowest price for pasalubongs. I bought t-shirts, mugs and other souvenirs.

We had a tiring day, woke up at 3am and got to bed at around 10pm. I forgot that my cellphone was alarmed at 3am because of the early flight, I forgot to disabled it that’s why it disturbed our 2 roomates from Canada (?, were they Canadian guys? I forgot.lels) habang kami ang sarap ng tulog naming dahil sa pagod, nagising nalang ako when someone was shouting from the other bed “Hey! Hello? HeLLo! Your alarm! Hello?”, then I turned it off then sleep again, Keber! So sleepy kaya ako, hehehehee. The following morning,  wala kaming mukhang naihirap sa knila, mabuti lng early bird sila, gumising kami ng 6am, wala na sila sa bed, gumala na. lels.

Day 7 - 2hrs in Sentosa and Went home

Picture
Ganun kami kakapos sa oras, after our light breakfast offered at the Inn, we directly go to Vivo City, and we decided to take the cable car going to Sentosa Island rather taking the monorail.

I was really surprise, too many structures and buildings were built and some are still on constructions. Ang daming nabago sa Sentosa Island, It is where you can find its Universal Studios. Upon arrival at the Island, all we did was walked and strolled going to Universal Studios, well we all wanted to see and will have picture taking at U.S ang daming tao, picture dito, picture doon, lels.

Jet-Jet preferred not to come with us and she just spent the whole morning resting at the Inn, habang kami lakad dito, lakad doon sa Sentosa. After 2hrs in Sentosa, we decided to go back to the Inn and prepare things for our 4pm flight back to Philippines. But before going home, di namin kinalimutang tumawag kay Ingko BiL, wooot! Hehehee,, we never had the chance to see each other kasi sobrang busy nya daw, ay kami pala busy sa lakwatsa. Hehehehe..love u ingko!

The whole trip from 1 country to the other was a great experience! The memories are there to be keep; no one can take it away from me! Sobrang saya!!!
